Transitions and Student Life supports you from the moment you consider joining Centennial College, through your studies, and then also as you transition out of the college and become part of our alumni network.
We make sure you get the most out of your time at Centennial College. You might interact with the Transitions and Student Life team as we guide you through campus in an online or in person orientation session, help you find a group that suits your interests, arrange Engagement Week activities, or connect you with a volunteer opportunity that fits with your academic program or area of interest. We also support you in addressing food insecurity and provide you with community building opportunities where you can network and meet other students who identify in similar ways.
We want all students to experience community and belonging during their time at Centennial College, and we work hard to make that happen. If you have questions about how we can help you, don’t hesitate to contact us by completing the Centennial Access to Student Services (CASS) Request Form or come say hi at the Progress campus, room C2-01
Our Programs
headSTART
headSTART is a 16-week pre-arrival program serving over fifty thousand prospective students annually. It is designed to help new students prepare for their personal, academic, and professional success at Centennial. The headSTART program includes an online portal, weekly newsletter, and webinars tailor-made to give students the tools and resources they need to succeed in areas where students have struggled in the past.
Engagement Week Programming
We provide students with opportunities to relax and recharge with social activities aimed at getting off-campus and exploring Southern Ontario. Engagement Week activities from SCC focus on making social connections, meeting students outside of their program or campus, and providing exposure to local attractions.
Social Connection Programming
These programs focus on building a sense of college community, peer to peer connections, and promote students’ sense of self-advocacy by ensuring they have a space to discuss what is going on in their lives and learn about resources both on and off campus to provide the support they need.
Mentorship Program
Our 8-week online program pairs upper year students with incoming students at Centennial College to ease their transition with a focus on locating and accessing supports, social connections, and system navigation.
Food Security
Food impacts all parts of our daily lives. It’s not only necessary to sustain ourselves, but to learn, grow, and feel connected to our communities. We provide information and resources on short-term solutions such as food banks and community gardens may provide immediate relief while advocating for long term sustainable solutions.
Queering Community Student Collective
The Queering Community Student Collective (QCSC) is a community space and support network for 2SLGBTQQIA+ students and allies at Centennial College.
Black Student Collective
The Black Student Collective (BSC) seeks to provide Black students at Centennial College with the resources, supports and connections needed to strengthen their academic success, well-being and career opportunities.
